We’re proud to announce the launch of the 360 Marina 5k, an event organised by Swansea Trotters Alumni Organisation with 360 Beach and Watersports centre as the host; it will be taking place on Saturday, March 16th at 11.00 o clock.
The event has received the support of both Swansea Council and Swansea University and hopes to become a credible and annual contributor to the growing event calendar at Swansea Bay.
This is an extremely flat and quick course open to runners of all abilities, perfect for uncompetitive runners looking for some exercise or a challenge, or the experienced runner seeking a P.B. at the start of the road racing season.
The course is entirely on the Swansea Bay promenade, it will head out from the 360 Centre towards Swansea Marina, covering a distance of 2.5k and then doubling back to the centre to complete the total distance of 5k.
360 Beach and Watersports is a not-for-profit organisation established by Bay Leisure in partnership with Swansea Council and Swansea University, that is based opposite St Helen’s rugby ground.
Kate Hannington, Manger of 360 Beach & Watersports, said; “360 Beach & Watersports are excited to be hosting the Swansea Trotters 5k. Our priority is to promote sport & activity to all throughout Swansea and the 5k is a great opportunity for us to help do this.”
“With the start / finish line being right outside 360, if you’re not taking part in the race, you can relax in our beach front cafe bar and watch all the action unfold.”
Steven Jones, Founder of Swansea Trotters, said: “We founded Swansea Trotters in January last year, holding our fist annual Alumni vs University team race in March, following it success we saw a real potential to expand the race into a public event; hence the birth of the 360 Marina 5k.”
“With support from Swansea University and Council, along with 360 Beach & Watersports on board as the event host, we believe that we have the perfect location and platform to make this a successful event and a real contributor to the Swansea Bay calendar.”
“The money raised from the event will go into funding and developing the race next year, as well as a long term goal of providing financial support to the University’s Athletics & Triathlon team’s.”
