Ross Macdonald crowned ITU World Duathlon Champion for the 20-24 age group

Having secured a victory at the Nancy Duathlon in France, on the 23rd of September, Ross Macdonald was crowned ITU Duathlon World Champion.

The former Swansea University Triathlon captain now competing for GB’s 20-24 team and sponsored by Nectar Fuel and For Goodness Shakes crossed the finishing line with an overall time of 01:56:34.


Macdonald attained impressive splits on each leg of the race, which included a 00:34:43 10k run, a 40k bike leg in 01:02:05, and a final 5k run in 00:18:01.

Ross was followed by fellow British athlete Lewys Winfield Young in second place (01:56:50) and French athlete Nicolas Boivin in third (01:57:35).

Discussing his experience, Ross stated that:
“With a kilometre left I moved into 1st place and quickly built a big enough lead so that I could enjoy the final 500 metres, running into the main square in Nancy with a huge crowd cheering.”

“Dead chuffed with the result, great experience, epic atmosphere and being a World Champion sounds ace! lol.”
