Having served as a Triathlon Coach in Portugal for Tri Training Harder, former Triathlon Vice Captain (09-10) Tim Butt secures 1st place at the Essex Road Club TT, and 2nd place at the Hog Hill Circuit Ride, both on the week of his return to the UK
On his first day back in the UK Butt gained his first place position at the Essex Road Clubs TT, crossing the finishing line with a time of 24.08 over a wet 10.7 mile course.
Butt achieved further success on Thursday, placing 2nd at the Hog Hill Circuit Ride, with a flat tire over the last 200m enabling Christopher Morrison to snatch 1st place.
Tim has spent the last two month coaching at a triathlon training camp in Portugal with the British based company Tri Training Harder.
Tim stated that: “Going to Portugal in February was a great opportunity for me to coach and share my experience as a triathlete within the excellent setting of the Arlgarves climate and landscape.”
He added that “This perfect training location gave me the opportunity to concentrate specifically on my cycle training, greatly helped by training with a resident, just turned pro “Ben Howard” and local cycling club Loule Ciclismo.”
With his focus drifting towards road racing Butt plans to continue his competitive series throughout the summer representing Essex based Maldon & District Cycling Club.
Stating that “With my return to the UK half way through the season i have been eager to get straight into racing, planning to race weekly road races, circuit races and time trials.”
With his current form Tim has now set his eyes on gaining a 1st category race license, having remarked that:
“Hopefully with consistent good results I have set myself the tough challenge of reaching a 1st category race license by the end of the season.”
