Swansea Universities Triathlon Team competes in the BUCS Sprint Triathlon on the 6th of May at St Mary’s Sport Centre in Wiltshire.
Competing over a distance of a 750m swim, 25k bike, and a 5k run the men’s A team achieved a respectable mid table result of 28 out of 60, led by a time of 1:17:02.938 by Club Captain Ben Davies, followed by Jimmy Wilson, and first year Harry Thornton.
The Triathlon Club has enjoyed notably higher rankings in its previous years, yet having suffered a difficult academic year over 2010-2011, with a near disbandment, the result marks a true achievement for the club.
The event marks the closing of the team’s competitive year, one that has held success through an increase in members, sponsorship at Retros bar in Wind Street and the Bike Hub at St Helens.
As well as the introduction of the Club Champs Shield, this saw the team compete in 3 Duathlons, 2 Triathlons, and a number of running events alongside the athletics and cross country team.
