By Steven Jones

Swansea Trotters the alumni club for graduates of Swansea University’s Athletics and Cross Country & Triathlon held its first annual 5k road race on the 10th of March.first annual 5k road race on the 10th of March.Image

Richard Mann, the current Cross Country captain took the win, with a time of 16.30, just edging his training partner Tom Bowerman (The current Club Captain of Athletics and Cross Country) who clocked in at 16.36.

The first alumni member to cross the line was Stephen Richards, (former Athletics Secretary 06-07 & Cross Country Captain 07-08) at 4th place with a time of 17.43, and Andrew De Camps in at 5th.

The course took participants over a 5k stretch of Swansea’s sea front, starting and finishing at the car park opposite the Universities athletics track.

With a respectable turnout of over 20 members and graduates, the race was then followed by a meal and drinks at the Cross Keys whilst supporting Wales in the six nations.

We are looking to expand the event into a fundraiser in the next year, with the idea that anyone can enter a team, whether that is an established team like Swansea Harriers or a group of none-athletic Swansea graduates.
